MissSpiders Sunny Patch Bounce Cake

When asked what birthday cake she wanted, little "almost 3-yr old" Ashley answer Bounce without hesitation. It was probably the last thing we would have guessed she wanted for her birthday. So, I set to the task of creating the Character of Bounce from the "Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends" TV show from NOGGIN. I did a quick internet search for the character and turned up a couple of good pictures. I baked a cake using my round pan. It is made up of two cake pans. Each pan is half of a sphere. When they were finished baking, I just stuck them together with icing. I frosted the cake so the icing was flat, and then airbrushed the cake. I used fondant for the eyes, nose, and boots that I dyed to the right color. His antennae are made of wooden skewers with fondant balls on the top. I piped icing for the legs and mouth. After I was done icing the cake, I used my grass tip to make it look like he was sitting in a field of grass and flowers. Ashley loved the cake, a job well done!
